I am in love with House music these days, most especially South African ones. You should listen to the song “Omunye” by Distruction Boyz and you would understand…..
So, the moment @dme.ng put out posts about a restaurant that jams to only house songs, my mind blew up and I raced there.
The doors opened up and I was shocked, in a good way….this place screamed Egypt!
This was one of the three Egyptian faces I became friends with after my visit. And the walls…..they held inscriptions of Egyptian symbols, like nothing I had ever seen.
Funny how I’m not sure my ears picked up any music till I was done being fascinated by Art. Then yes, I realized their DJ was killing it….steady serving chillout kind of house. Then of course, it was time for food.
Reverse Mode Activated because the desserts did amazing by me!
I had a strawberry cheese cake and this piece was everything….three layers of yum! First, the strawberry glaze on top which was literally the cherry on the cake…..finger licking good! The cheesy middle layer…..sweet but not too sweet and the crusty bottom…..perfect crunch! I wish the crust had a little more height to match up to the ratio of the cheese though but in all, it was delectable!
My eating partner for the day, Ck had an oreo cheesecake which was also a delight for me. By now, some of you know that I’m not the biggest fan of chocolate but this was divine! And it had a certain twist to it, the top (big oreo pieces) was crunchier than the bottom (a finely crushed oreo mix). Then the chocolate syrup drizzle brought it home. I’m definitely having an entire piece the next time I’m here.
Ck went with a platter….springrolls, chicken wings, beef kabobs, battered fish strips, sweet potato fries and dips…. Honestly, I didn’t care a lot for anything on this platter apart from the wings, they were glazed in some bbq like sauce and tasted yum!
But every inch of my choice was heavenly….Mashed potatoes and roast Duck! Now I am not sure why I didn’t take closer pictures of my finely sliced duck pieces but yes, they were tender and juicy and tasty. The gravy made it even juicier….a ginger spiced deliciousness that heavily flattered the velvety mashed potatoes….
In the beginning…..
Chicken Lollipops and Drinks!
The lollipops were mildly spiced, a little crisp on the outside and luscious on the inside….paired with a spicy sweet sauce.
I had ordered a martini but it was extremely boozy so I traded it for Ck’s Apple Breeze. Now, this was the moment I locked my love for House Café down! The personal touch on these cocktails got my heart racing with excitement…..Never have I ever had a blue martini or green apple breeze!
You should know that….they make wood fired pizzas & they house a pretty shisha room/lounge and a coffee shop.
