Don’t you just wish you could get a gold coin for every restaurant that opens up in Lagos? We’d all be as rich……what’s the wealthiest country in the world? Qatar I hear…….But no, we do the spending in this case because we have to sample them. While the pockets scream Arghhh, the tummies scream Yaaay!
To keep up with this movement, I’m hardly ever able to visit a place more than once. However, if my first experience is exceptionally good, I make it a life’s mission to visit a second time.
Ile Eros AgainRemember my first Ile Eros visit? I mentioned that their menus would get frequent makeovers so yes, I went back for the new babies. Funny story, there’s a more recent makeover and I’m planning a third visit *tears*. Polished Nigerian food seems to be my thing now.
DrinksIt felt right to act like a cool French chic so rosé got me. Then I bullied my dining partner into getting it as well so we could have matching glasses.
StarterThe PuffPuff Party was my favorite starter from the last time so we had to indulge. I used to think only roadside Yoruba women knew how to make such delicious puffpuff but Chef Eros steady impresses me. Each ball in this glass was blissful……the softness, the right amount of sweetness, the infusion of shrimps and chicken……so good, we got six packs to take home.
MainsThe Seafood Ayamase was an instant attraction because I’m obsessed with ofada. This wasn’t your regular ofada combo though……packed with spiciness and bite-sized seafood, paired with perfectly cooked coconut rice, colorful veggies, a beautiful rocket topping that simply cut through the richness of the sauce……Yum is an understatement.
My dining partner had the Lobster Okra. Another choice from my last visit that had to revisited due its tastiness. The yam flour pudding is still a wonder to me, how can swallow be so soft and flavorful? Yes, I had to bite into two balls to understand why it had an extra name. Then the chunks of lobster meat and fish……I could have this every day.
Dessert Tiramisu just because I didn’t try it the first time even though I had been dreaming of their banana bread. My favorite part of this dish is that I was given a tiny cute jar filled with Irish cream which I soaked the already moist cake in. Another thing that burst my head was how airy the mousse layers were. An excellent tool to cure sweet cravings.
Decor I couldn’t help but fall in love with the Yoruba drummer and Keke pieces…..so much Nigerian soul.
Oooo the bill comes in a calabash!
