Hey Foodlovers 👋
I have been asked a couple of times why I never write about my ‘not-so-loving’ food moments so I decided to share a few today. But, I really wouldn’t be doing this often….no fun! Plus, what makes my palate go to sleep just might make yours jump for joy!
Crusty bread, olive oil & balsamic vinegar dip with Manzanilla olives
I am not a fan of olives to start with but I wanted to try it all on this day. My throat refused to be a part of the experiment though 🤦♂️ I made it through 3 pieces and I was done. Downed my glass of wine and thought okay, only the bread will do but for some funny reason, the extra bite that came with this crusty bread (which I would usually appreciate) is what slapped me, I just wanted nothing to do with this dish!
I grew up listening to my dad say he doesn’t eat pork because pigs are dirty so no pork for me too. I remember looking at my mum funny when she would eat pork and love it. One day, I realized she fed me with pork sausages and ham all the while, I wanted to feel sick but I remembered that they tasted really good so I concluded that I would stick to eating only processed pork…basically bacon, sausages & ham (Don’t laugh at me).
Fast forward to this fine dining appetizer…a prosciutto dish. I knew it was pork from tv but concluded it was like ham. Then the waitress explained it was a salumi (not cooked but cured). Even with my head trying to process what cured meat means, I gave it a try…. Honestly tasted okay but my experimentation had reached its limit. All in my head was ‘Ify what would Daddy say if he hears you are eating uncooked pork?’ Next dish please…
I have come to the conclusion that my palate is just not Italian-refined enough so please do not let my story stop you from trying any of these out. 😘

For some reason I love this post. Like I can’t stand pasta!
😂 I saw that in your last post!
I love the honesty (without being mean or a personal attack). My food yucks have definitely changed as I got older, but I am still a picky pork eater 😉
