More Simple Pleasures #TheFoodLoverInParis

More Simple Pleasures #TheFoodLoverInParis

Just because Paris gave me a lot more of simple eats that blew my tastebuds away than what you saw on Simple Pleasures…..

Slush (Slush Ease, Jardin de Tuileries)

While soaking in the beauty of the Tuileries Garden, I also soaked in delicious slushee into my body to help calm the nerves that were being tweaked the sun.Slush Ease is one of the many food carts set up opposite the carousel at the park. Other carts traded an array of sweetness…. cotton candy, crepes, popcorn, pastries but this layered tree of goodness lasted me the entire garden walk.

Another Slushee (Eiffel Tower)The Eiffel tower food queues were ridiculous but I managed to grab a slushee after climbing up to the 1st floor….such a hectic job for my unfit self. I honestly can’t remember the taste but it was extremely refreshing!

Panini (Les Instants Nomades, Trocadero)

Les Instants Nomades is a food cart right in the heart of Trocadero.Guess what my second hand was doing….stuffing my mouth with the best sandwich of my trip! The cheese melt in that baby was nothing short of amazing. And the view…..Trocadero gives you the best view of the Eiffel tower, I believe. You should totally visit during the day and at night as both times have different magical feels. Apart from the huge number of tourists and souvenir sellers (beware of scam artists and thieves), the vibrancy of this place would blow your mind away. From dance classes right in the open space to song/dance performances of beautiful talents…..it is surrounded by gardens, palaces and museums worth visiting.

Pastries (Maison Dudicourt, Château Rouge)It was love at first site when I walked into this place and the long display of goodies held my gaze….I knew I had to indulge but my African Market Adventure had to happen first. Take this from me….pastries are the best relievers for market stress! I walked back in after my buyings and happiness bathed my soul, the aroma in the air alone was enough to transport me to fantasyland.Macarons are one of my favorite things in the world and these were perfect, kept on wishing I got a lot more. From the pictures, I’m sure you can tell that the tarts were really good, my taste buds clearly remember being wowed! I doubt they have any chairs, it is more like a grab your bites and leave place but very worth a stop if you are around there.

Cornetto Icecream Cone (Vedettes Du Pond Neuf)Do not make the mistake of visiting Paris and not going on the Seine Cruise, it is one hour of seeing the city at its finest. Before or after you board the boat, you could sit at the café for a quick bite or get yourself the yummiest dessert cone for €3! Price of cruise during my visit was €14.

Coffee & Nibbles (Paul)There are Paul restaurants/bakeries all over Paris, even at Charles de Gualle Airport and I indulged a couple of times….This was my first time encountering fat sized macarons….what’s not to love about triple the size of such a delightful treat?I can tell you that Paul is a one-stop shop for delicious inexpensive baked items…..it is also a café and their many spots have comfortable chairs and phone charging spots that will make your waiting game worthwhile.

Frappuccino & Coca-Cola (Total Filling Station)

Remember my Fontainebleau palace visit? On my way back home with TheFrenchKid, we stopped over at Total to fuel the car and our throats…..Coca-Cola is indeed life for some people, a clear evidence was TheFrenchKid’s face when gulped this down. The Starbucks Frappuccino is not the easiest thing to find in Lagos and I absolutely love it….so imagine my excitement when I found it chilling casually in the mart refrigerator! Our road trip was a lot of fun with these two bad boys in our hands and Afrobeats in our ears.

Waffle & Icecream (Haagen Dazs)This is one pure pleasure you can never go wrong with…..hot crisp waffles and a yummy scoop of one of their many icecream flavors (I went with red velvet cheesecake) from one of the many outlets of Haagen Dazs!

Burger (McDonald’s)It is no secret that there’s no McDonald’s in Nigeria so naturally, crossing the shores of my country means I have to have a taste of what I watch people on TV eat even though eating burgers is not one of my favorite chores to do. A quick mall visit and their gigantic sign dragged me in….I went with the classic hamburger that helped me avoid big mouth stretches and loved every single bite!
