A special task force has taken up the high-priority mission of helping me get my food writing game back on as it has been sleeping for a while now. Our first strike took place a few nights ago……
Battle ground– Privé at Circa Nonpariel
Officers– Codename: FJ Cruiser & Me: TheFoodLover
Until this day, I had been dreaming about Circa but never entered because the luxuriant exterior simply gave my wallet a complex. But then, it was FJ Cruiser’s birthday so yes, splurging with his wallet was allowed. We arrived at about 9 pm and parking was a bit of an issue (I don’t want to come here on a festive night).
Skipping right to the food…..
Our food took longer than expected so the Chef sent these complementary spring rolls. I call this generosity at its finest! These babies were everything and more…..crunchy on the outside, delicious moist shrimp filling, flavorsome dipping sauce…..my favorite eat of the day!
FJ Cruiser got Wings just to keep his mouth busy. This guy actually had dinner at home because as usual, I took my time getting ready and his fitfam-ness won’t allow him have dinner after 7:30 pm. I crushed two pieces and wasn’t blown away but the peppery sensation it left in my mouth might make me order it another time.
Now, the main business…..my food! I had trouble deciding what to eat but finally my meat cravings pointed me in the Lamb direction. Spot the shimmers on the menu, so lush!My pretty plate of Lamb Chops came with perfect golden crisp potato wedges instead of mashed potatoes though, not sure why but I was very happy with the switch. The big portion size was also something that put a smile on my face, I mentally shared it into two because I knew it would make great brunch the next day. How many of you live for leftover meals like me?
Did you spot the Gold Plated Tomahawk on the menu? *coughs* If you try it, please share your experience. *wink*
Drinks
Don’t crucify me yet, I’m still trying to get my A-game on so I forgot to take pictures of the entire menu and space, their Instagram has all of that though (link at the bottom of post). I had the Non Pariel Berries and loved it! Vodka based and perfect for a sweet cocktail lover.Spot the round white device on the table. I was schooled on this so I’m going to school those of you who don’t know…..It is a digital call bell system for waiters, you press on it and a waiter gets a vibration signal from his wristband then gets to you as soon as possible……I was impressed with the service overall so well done to Circa for this.
FJ Cruiser had a classic…..Long Island. Who else feels drunk after a few sips of this? *Laughs* I never go near it.
Fine Details
The ambience here is one to savor. I particularly liked that the cutlery pouch had their name engraved on it. Then they have this large circular wine rack built into a wall that held my eyes for a while….
Ooo did I already mention that practically every furniture and detail here is circular? Even the building! Circa has three levels…..the restaurant (ground floor), a lounge (middle floor) which both have terraces with lagoon views then the top level, a rooftop lounge. I went up there for a few minutes and the dramatic lights from Lekki-Ikoyi bridge made me swear I’d come back here for drinks another night……..
