My admiration for seafood knows no bounds so I thought I’d share three meals that made me appreciate it even more…
1) Italian seafood pasta (La Manzara, Rotterdam)
First off, we need to know what pasta shape this is…Acini di pepe (Italian) meaning grains of pepper in English and they work great for one-pot pasta soup recipes. Fitfam gang can substitute with large grain couscous.
Okay back to the meal; one-pot of tomato soup, acini di pepe, dash of parsley, mussels & clams in all it’s glory! This was so good, I had to thank the waitress in Italiano…Grazie!
And yes, the restaurant itself…La Manzara has this dainty feel to it on the inside which made my meal all the more enjoyable & the outside has a sitting area right beside water with beautiful boats…Here’s a picture to show you guys the view beside it but it’s a shame I did not capture the restaurant itself…
2) Butterfly lobster tails (African Royal Beach Hotel, Accra)
I thought lobsters were fancy enough till I had this butterfly style grilled lobster tails with garlic butter….tasted like sophistication in my mouth! The side of vegetable fried rice and steamed vegetables complemented the dish perfectly….
The sad part, this was the last meal I had in Accra right before my flight back to Lagos, I couldn’t stop wishing I had discovered it earlier, I would have eaten it every day of my stay there.
3) Steamed Alaskan King Crab leg (The Harbour Club, Rotterdam)
This wasn’t just a meal but an experience…I walked into the restaurant and my eyes found this display of goodness…love at first sight! The Alaskan king crabs really don’t play when it comes to size.
I got settled on my seat, menu still unopen and I told the waitress my starter had to be crab legs! Of course, I didn’t regret this decision….
You can never go wrong with simplicity when it comes to food presentation. The fact that I got to eat my perfectly steamed crab meat off it’s pretty shell was everything! Served alongside a dipping sauce of seasoned olive oil & roast lemon as garnish. Simple but Priceless!
