When the dessert has some serious pizzazz, we do REVERSE MODE!
For last, we shared a Tiramisu. Love at first sight, I tell you….….A spoonful of this in my mouth truly made me feel the meaning of “Tiramisu” (Italian) which is “Cheer me up” (English). I could just tell that this plate was made with a lot of love. The menu states that it is an original recipe so basically, it should be ladyfingers dipped in coffee (We can’t be friends if you aren’t in love with lady fingers or coffee), layered with a beautiful mix of eggs (yokes only), sugar and mascarpone cheese then a dust of cocoa powder. Such Velvety Creaminess!Took a lot for me not to ask for a second jar.
Just before that yumminess arrived, my tummy had been crying for being too filled up with delicious bowls of pasta and mashed potato with octopus. You would find the menu at the end of the post…..
Octopus dish: Octopus with potato and black olivesI wanted this mainly for the octopus but my mind kept shaking till it came because I DO NOT LIKE OLIVES although I wanted to try them again just to remind myself. Funny story….I didn’t exactly notice the olives. Clearly, the entire meal was too much of a delight for some small part to interfere. Such gorgeousness….look and taste! Honestly, the best seasoned octopus I have had in about three years.
One thing non-octopus-eaters do not know is that it actually tastes really similar to chicken. So if you are a chicken lover, chances are that you would love octopus. Got too carried away to ask how it was cooked but my guess would be “grilling” which even impresses me more as this baby still maintained its tenderness. My only issue…..I wish the potatoes came with some kind of sauce, just because I am a sauce kind of girl!
Pasta dish: Fettuccine pasta with seafoodI have to say this in Nigerian style….the way this thing was sweet enhhh….impressive! The pasta was definitely freshly made, the sauce was super tasty and the shrimps….very robust and tender. Only problem, when I see seafood on a menu, my brain signals my tummy that it’s getting atleast three different types of seafood. It was a little disappointing that I didn’t get crab meat or mussels on this plate but o well, I ended up being very pleased with what I got!
While waiting for the mains, I did a little tour of The Grill By Delis, they have both indoor and outdoor sitting areas. Oooo did I mention that it is a beautiful place? Pretty upscale too, kept wishing I had some serious heeled shoes on. Here are a few things that wowed me….A glass wine cellar…..
