Treats from The Mainport

Let’s throw it back to late summer, 2016 when I spent a few days at The Mainport Hotel in Rotterdam…..amazing food experience!

First off, I love seafood and salmon is one of my absolute favorite fish types! Yes I know the picture was not taken from the best of angles and Yes, I need photography lessons *chuckles*
This dish….hmmm…..I could taste the vegetable juiciness soaked in the salmon which was pan-fried just enough to achieve a deliciously golden pink color and crisp skin accompanied with perfectly fried french fries.This was brunch so I had to go all in….I had an apple pie too! Both crust & filling…magnifique!

I remember spending my whole day out so I came back to the hotel in search of comfort food & what better way to indulge than *drumroll* PIZZA & ICE CREAM! The pizza was pure cheesy goodness but I had to go the extra mile by adding a spoon of chunky monkey goodness with every bite.

This prawn in batter dish was so good, I ordered it twice….perfectly crisp on the outside yet still so moist on the inside, it melts like goodness in your mouth.

I am not big on fruit salads but this was NICE! I think the peach sorbet made the difference, actually No, I know it made all the difference! The way I remember it, I had late lunch so I wanted something light for dinner and as I scanned through the salad menu, my eyes caught the ‘sorbet’ on the third option so I went for it & loved every bit of it.

As a typical Nigerian, I needed small chops in my system so I found a platter of chops on the menu and trust me, every bite of everything on this plate was beautiful and this particular dish made me realize my love for hollandaise sauce….

I opened the food cover dome, saw this dish & I thought…what a pretty plate! I ordered a cheesecake but this wasn’t just a cheesecake….it was amazing cheesecake! The sorbet had hints of mint in it coupled with a dash of nuts…seemed like the perfect assembly!
